Commitments aren’t easy, and commitments aren’t empty!
Have you ever given an empty promise? “If you do This… Trust Me…then I will do That in return..” Many times we don’t follow through with our end of the deal because we either forget about what we had promised, decide that what the other person was asking for was way too much, or it was simply a ploy to get what we wanted in the first place. Our God isn’t like that.
He tells us that we should commit everything we do to Him and then trust Him. But, trust in Him to do what? Well, think about this: He created the entire universe. He had every right to just stop right there and let your life play out on its own. But He doesn’t do that. He won’t just stand by and watch. The verse goes on to say that if we will commit to Him and trust in Him, He will help us – He will act. God is perfect, He is holy and sinless. If He says He will act, you can count on that completely.
So what is He asking of us? It’s right there in the verse.
COMMIT EVERYTHING TO THE LORD, AND TRUST HIM
So what comes with committing everything we do to the Lord?
Well, if you choose to really be committed to something, it’s going to have an impact on your life. You can’t just be committed half-heartedly. Being committed shows itself in every area of your life. If you choose to be completely committed to a certain sport it will have an impact on what free time you have available to hang out with friends. It will have an impact on your muscles being sore for hours after practice. it will have an impact on who you spend your time with and who other people know you to be.
In the same way, if you choose to completely commit yourself to the Lord, that will have an impact on your life as well. Being committed to Him involves spending time with Him. It will impact the way you act and how other people see you. If you decide to completely commit yourself to the Lord, you will never be the same.
Let me tell you this: God is trustworthy. His plans and dreams are bigger than you can fathom. He is faithful to catch you every single time you fall, and if you will just trust Him, He will prove it over and over again!
Pray: Take some time now to see what things you have not committed to God. Where do you not trust Him completely? Ask the Lord to help you make changes and allow Him to impact your life and impact others at the same time.
